Turquoise!

Turquoise Birthstone Nail Art TBT 2

Color Club Snakeskin as the base color, Color Club New Bohemian (turquoise), China Glaze Crushed Candy crackle on ring finger, and a little black and gold foil for my waterspot nail. I used rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle for the waterspot part, but maybe it wasn’t the most ideal alcohol-based product for the spritzing? I didn’t find it to break up the polish the way I wanted, but that could also be my unfiltered water. Rubbing alcohol was much better than that time I used perfume and my hand smelled crazy strong like perfume for days, because duh Emma, you put your hand into water drenched in sprays of perfume!

Colour Base + black

For the base layer I used a beautiful blue from Boots 17 called Catwalk Couture, it has a very slight shimmer to it, followed by a layer of Orly Galaxy Girl a stunning purply red with lots of blue shimmer that tied in nicely with the Catwalk Couture, followed by the last layer of a-england Lancelot a blackened red to tie in with the Galaxy Girl.

Ob 257bf3 zoya sailor with swarovski crystal tips 4

I have used Zoya Sailor and Swarovski crystals from Stephen Arnold Ltd. e-shop*. The crystals are very sparkly and look so much better than the cheap plastic ones from nail wheels. It took 50 crystals to do it but I could have done with 5 more. I’m also re-using the crystals because I can clean them with acetone. I hate to waste good rhinestones :)

Chilly

Isn’t she a beaut?!  Is that how they say it?  lol!  So anyway, this is Ibiza, a deep, shimmery blue.  I used 2 coats and it was flawless.  I haven’t had a blue like this since I was a pre-teen.  No joke.  I don’t remember the brand, but I do remember wearing this exact color almost my whole 5th grade year.  This is one of those “almost black” polishes and you know I love those.

Gumdrops

Nicole by OPI That s What I Mint 1

Nicole by OPI That’s What I Mint is a teal texture. This is part of their Gumdrops collection, I don’t know why this wasn’t included in the original release of the Gumdrops but I found it at Target when they finally put out the display a while back. Is it just me or does anyone else wonder why this has “Mint” in the name…it’s not really minty at all o.O. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

To get you in the spirit of today’s holiday, here are two looks!

Dr. Fünke

Yodelmeonmycell2

This is a gorgeous shimmery teal polish.  It has great application in two coats.  Isn’t it just beautiful?

Mine

Barielle midnight in paris

Barielle Midnight in Paris is an inky blue shimmer that leaned slightly purple. The name of this one is completely appropriate, because it looks to me just like a dark night sky! It was slightly thicker to apply than the creams, but still easy. Shown above is two coats plus top coat.

Glitz

20131116 pure ice glitz 3241

Today I have a few snazzy looks from Pure Ice’s new Puttin’ on the Glitz Holiday Collection. I was excited to hear that Pure Ice is adding some nail art sparklies to the line to spice up our manis. The next look is Pure Ice Internationally Known, a deep creamy teal, with gold french tips. I started with two coats of polish and topcoat and waited until it was absolutely dry. I taped off my tips (to keep glitter off the nail bed) and one-at-a-time polished each tip with additional topcoat, dipped it in the glitter, blew off the excess, and removed the tape. I love how this turned out!

I’m loving this crazy blue!

IKB: 2012: A bright, vibrant, electric blue with blurple (blue-purple) in a jelly finish, hence, the creation of the most densely pigmented jelly-like finish I’ve ever made.
