Illamasqua facet 2

Described as “Grey Crystal” on the website, Facet is part of Illamasqua’s Sacred Hour collection. It’s a grey/taupe base packed full of coppery shimmer flakes, and is completely stunning! It’s simple yet still somehow unique in my stash. I think Raindrops will always be my favourite Illamasqua shade, but this comes very very close.

Einstein’s

If you love grey and glitter, this is THE polish for you! This is two coats of Elemental Styles E=mc^2 with one coat of top coat! Whitney’s creations are inspired by her love for Chemistry and polish! Application was spot on and NO digging for glitter, which I love! It reminds me of cookies n cream–if only polish was edible!!

Stormy

Nailtisaneserpentsfang2

Nail Tisane Serpent’s Fang is a medium grey scattered holographic.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply.  I really love this one!!  It’s such a perfect stormy grey! Shown is two coats of Serpent’s Fang.

Newsprint

Gradient ombre newspaper newsprint monochrome nail art nails macro

I am SO pleasantly surprised with how easy newspaper nails are to do! They seem sort of UN-mess-up-able since they’re a little grungy anyway. The only thing I wish I could have done differently with this manicure would be to move all the base gradients down one nail – i.e. have my ring finger gradient be the darkest one on my whole hand since you can still see the newsprint fairly well over it, but it’s mostly impossible over my pinkie gradient nail >.<

I started with two coats of Essence Twins Romeo. I did a diagonal tip with China Glaze Liquid Leather using clear scotch tape. Using my dotting tool, I placed three dots of Essence Twin Romeo, making sure the grey dots fell on the edge of the black diagonal tip. Once that dried, I added three dots with China Glaze Liquid Leather. I finished with one coat of top coat!

Planner

Erin Condren Planner Inspired Nail Art 1

To get this look: I decided to stay true to the design of the planner and the colours used. Since the background is not black, but more of a slate grey. I started with a base of one coat of Cult Nails Fetish, and one coat of Essie Cashmere Bathrobe (I don’t own a dark slate grey, otherwise I would have used that).

The next step was to paint where my design would go, and block it out using Cult Nails Tempest (an opaque white). This would allow for the colours to show up more.

I then painted in the design with my colour: Nubar My New Obsession (blue), Sally Hansen Lightening (yellow), Nubar On The Radar (red), Models Own Soda Pop Pink, OPI My Vampire is Buff, Misa Lime Love, and for the brown/nude a mix of Models Own Nude Beige and Essie Cashmere Bathrobe.

Overall I really like this colour. I think I would love a pure dark grey with no hint of taupe but this is still really nice for my taupe polish fix. It’s a nice dark neutral for winter if you’re willing to let your nails looks bit like the sky in a cloudy thunderstorm! Well that’s what it reminds me of, anyway. In a good way, of course.

Grey boardroom

I love love love this. Its so mysterious. A dark gray creme with a touch of green. Stormy Weather is my type of polish. I love deep, dark, murky shades, and this is just that! Formula was also fantastic, two coats for full coverage.

Pieces of Horror

I know, a polish I love that isn’t blue or purple – would you also believe I have red on my own nails right now? It’s a day of amazements for sure.

Differentdimension havethelambsstoppedscreaming 1

Have the Lambs Stopped Screaming? is a fun Halloween colored glitter topper in a clear base. There are black, orange, and white glitters in a number of shapes (including hearts, stars, and dots), plus holo dust. There is a ton of glitter packed in here and I’ve shown just one coat over DIOSA Dime Piece.

For this I used OPI Pirouette My Whistle over yesterday’s manicure of Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather. See how this turned out below!
