Sloth 5

Sloth is from the 7 Deadly Sins of Summer collection from Nostalgic Nail Lacquer. Sloth has orange, burgundy and copper glitter. This is a pretty awesome glitter. The formula was beautiful – not too thick and not too thin – and I only needed to dabble just a little bit to get glitter placed where I wanted. If I let Sloth thicken a bit I could easily wear it without layering but I like to layer.

Surprise pink

Rbl5

Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon is a gorgeous sage green with lots of shimmer. The application was smooth and easy and fully opaque in two coats. No issues to report. (And this one is still available as I type this…for NOW. But they are Limited Edition so if you want it, hurry!) It was difficult to capture the duochrome qualities of the shimmer but in person it’s not difficult to see at ALL. It shifts from pink to copper!

OPI Damone Roberts 1968 Renaissance Cosmetics Kensington 1b

Damone Roberts 1968 is described as a pistachio green creme. To me it also looks like a really muted pea soup green. It’s such a unique colour, one I normally wouldn’t buy, but I found that it looked pleasant with my skin tone. I didn’t experience the dreaded lobster hands that I normally get with pale mint polishes.

Formula wise it was really good. It’s a bit sheer at first but builds up nicely to a very even finish. I used 3 coats for these swatches.

To get this look:

I topped my swatch with a quick dry top coat and once that was dry I used chevron nail vinyls from nailvinyls.com. I find it’s best to stick them to your skin 2-3 times to remove some of the tact. Then I applied a generous coat of Renaissance Cosmetics Kensington. I love the shimmer of Kensington and how it contrasts to the creme base.

A Royal Gradient

For these gradient nails I used two a england nail polishes with a prismatic finish. The base colour is Princess Sabra and on the nail tips you can see Fated Prince.

Charla3

This is Zoya Charla, and she is outstanding!  Magical!  This is sort of similar to Color Club Metamorphosis, but they are definitely not dupes of each other.  Charla has large glass flecks and a duochrome in the base that flashes green (not blue/purple like in Metamorphosis).  I love blue and teal polishes, so I am very happy to have both of these beauties! =)

China Glaze But Of Corpse is a super unique textured green polish with black microglitters. I almost didn’t know what to make of this polish when I first saw it, but I decided it’s awesome! It reminds me of Frankenstein’s monster. I should note that this polish did react slightly with my base coat, and it cracked on the first coat, but it smoothed out with the next coat. (Although it might have just been the particular brand of base coat I used, Rejuvacote, because I spoke to a couple other bloggers and they said they had no problems with base coat!) Shown above is three coats without top coat – it was opaque in two, but I added a third thin one to cover up any cracking issues.

Mardi Gras

 20141007 julieg mardis gras

I want to share some crazy nails I created using the JulieG Mardis Gras Collection. This set includes six blingy, mega-glitters that give you a textured, jewel encrusted look without topcoat, or a super glittery finish with topcoat.

To get this look, I took a small nail art brush and dabbed on each of the six colors in a random pattern. It took two passes to get everything opaque. I didn’t worry about creating a gradient between shades, nor was I going for crisp lines. You could say this was sort of an experiment. But I LOVE how it came out! It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. I wore this out to run errands (on only one hand…LOL) and got stopped everywhere I went!

Algae

I Love Nail Polish Reminisce is a bright green that shifts to a deep teal then blue. The finish is seriously chrome. I wore this one out and got stopped three times…I kid you not. Again, I used three coats.
