My next Acq

I’m in the market for a bold pink, and I think this is it.

Dontmakemewine2wm

Don’t Make Me Wine is a deep wine/magenta shimmer. I love the blackened edges on this one. The formula was great and I’ve shown two coats below.

Opera

20131201 jessica opening night

So I tried my first JESSICA polish for a Nail Art Society look and was super impressed. And today I have swatches of my first complete JESSICA Cosmetics Collection. In this post, I have their Fall release, A Night at the Opera.

JESSICA Cosmetics Opening Night is a purple-leaning fuchsia shimmer that almost glows. It’s bright and deep at the same time. The formula was really good. My swatch is two coats.

Fresh spring

I don’t think I could pull off this look, but it is so sweet I couldn’t resist.

This style of nail art is called a “pond manicure!” It doesn’t so much reference an actual pond so much as it references the depth and the layers of the design. I followed a tutorial from Jacki at Adventures In Acetone, and she credits Olive View Fashion as the originator of this technique. It’s genius and gorgeous and best of all, EASY!

Happy Birthday

Kissy3

Zoya Kissy has a reddish-pink tinted base with lots of bright pink/red shimmer and pink and holo tinsel/bar glitter pieces. It went on well and I didn’t have to pick at the bar glitters TOO much afterwards. It is pretty top coat hungry so I ended up using one coat of Gelous and two coats of Poshe.

Hot SF winter

IMG 1144 copy

OPI Embarca Dare Ya! is a magenta with a hot pink shimmer. Shown above is two coats, and just like the other two, it applied easily and flawlessly. This is a great Autumn pink!

Opals

 Darling Diva Rose Opal 5

The Opal Collection is made up of 7 new shades of jelly flakies that can be layered or worn alone. In order to suspend the flakes and iridescent glitters and holo shimmer goodness, they are a bit thicker than a regular topper, which is why they build to opacity in 2 to 3 coats (most in 2 coats) and I would recommend layering the lighter shades (Opal and Blue Opal). I had no issues with formula or application on any of them! You will need to excuse my ravaged cuticles though. When “winter weather” actually makes it to South Texas my cuticles are the first thing to revolt.

Darling Diva Polish Rose Opal. This one is a bright violet pink and I’ve worn it alone with 2 coats for opacity and one coat of top coat.

Pink PantHer

June1013

I filled an empty bottle just over 3/4 full of Crystaline Opal, then added in a half teaspoon of BeBe pigment and approx. 1 tablespoon of the hot pink glitter.

Dodge & Burn

Dodgeburn21

For this… I pretty much experimented with adding and subtracting nail polish. A good thick layer of black to start and then a few colors from the Color Club Poptastic collection. It started with Chelsea Girl (blue) and Wham! Pow! (orange). Then got a layer of Twiggie (green). Then Chelsea Girl and Wharhol (pink). And then acetone and a paintbrush!

Shocking

 PiCture pOlish ManiMonday Shocked 5

Today I have a blogger collaboration piCture pOlish color to share with you – Shocked, created with Claire of Shatter Me Claire. Shocked is a gorgeous pink jelly polish with holographic shards in it. I have to confess, the little irregularly shaped holo shards is my very favorite PP finish – I am obsessed with it!! I want ALL of them! Take a peek at how beautiful this polish is and the nail art I did inspired by Claire’s blog name below.

Tangy

 Kb shimmer beach please

KB Shimmer Beach Please borders on neon magenta pink. This is so close to being a neon, but thankfully it photographs better than neons do, so you can get a real idea of what it looks like. This is two coats.

Fish Egg Friday

FishEggNails

This picture was never actually meant to be posted. I decided to try the “fish egg” look a couple weeks ago and took this picture just to show some friends and my mom.

However, after I started seeing these “Fish Egg Friday” posts going up around the nail blogs, I wanted to join in. I support my fellow bloggers and it’s irritating to see companies attack them for ridiculous purposes. (Not to mention, it’s kind of just plain stupid on their part if they understand the blogging community at all.)
