Cruising

Hi all, today is my much overdue review of some Nanacoco polishes I received from HB Beauty Bar. I’ve already reviewed some of their foil shades here, but today I have some of their basic polish line colors. These polishes apply beautifully, have great formulas, and they are available for just $3.00 a bottle! (And you will find a discount code at the end of this review, too!)

First up, we have Nanacoco Romantic Cruise, a baby blue cream that (despite the name) looks perfect for winter! Shown above is two coats. This is a definite favorite out of the polishes I am showing you today. As simple of a color as it is, I didn’t have any like it in my collection, so you will definitely be seeing it in some nail art.

Starry

Ob 09a0b2 purple galaxy nails over zoya payton 3

I’ve prepared simple galaxy nail art and this time it’s all purple! I’ve used Zoya Payton as a base colour because it’s beautiful and the chunky holographic glitter looks like stars :)

Base colour – I’ve used Zoya Payton because of the holographic glitter in it

White, pink creme and purple creme polish, dotting tool, small detailing brush and topcoat (I’ve used Zoya polishes and Seche Vite topcoat).

Daisies

For these I started off with a base of MASH – Black, then I used acrylic paint for the white flowers and dots, and then I used Butter LONDON – Jasper for the yellow centres of the flowers, all topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Yellow gold

Nostalgia swatch for blog0

I Love Nail Polish Nostalgia, 2 coats  An incredibly unique Ultra Chrome effect that gives this polish a festive green, gold, and red color shift. My swatches really do not do this justice, in fact I’m not extremely excited about these swatches because the polish is really just so much more amazing in person.

For a glitter gradient, you want to use a glitter polish with a clear base that has a reasonable glitter load. Glitter polishes that are opaque on their own or that have crelly-base could work, but if you’re starting out, I would suggest a glitter topper in a clear base.  Glitter gradients can be very versatile.  They can be super subtle – soft pink polish with a gradient in a shimmering silver – or very bold – like the manicure I’m showing you today!

My base color is Milani High Speed Fast Dry Quick Teal.  I chose Jordana Glitters Copper Blaze for my glitter polish, which I forgot has a tinted base.  It gives this manicure even more of a cool gradient look and actually worked out quite well for the tutorial portion of this post because you can see exactly where I put the polish! =)  I finished the manicure off with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

Day of the Doctor

Day of the doctor nail art 01

For the base colour I chose a polish that fits the theme perfectly… Cult Nails Time Traveler – a polish named after the Doctor’s big blue box

On my ring and pinky fingers, I stuck some 1 mm flat backed pearls and painted them copper to look a bit like Daleks!

My index finger is painted with Essie As Gold as it Gets and stamped with W7 Black and a design from MoYou London Plate Pro Collection 10. This is meant to look a bit like The Master’s fob since this is a piece of imagery that really stood out to me back in the days when I used to watch the show. Wasn’t The Master a brilliant character?!

The galaxy nails were created using a couple of polishes including the holographic polishes A-England Rose Bower and Princess Sabra.

Glam Pixie

Glam Polish Pixie Hollow010

Glam Polish Tinker Bell – a bright lime base packed with silver chrome shimmer. Very fun!

The Queen

Ob 138372 triple darling diva combo 4

Today’s manicure incorporates three beautiful Darling Diva polishes from the Queen inspired collection (reviewed here). All three are duochromes with holographic particles in them so it’s given that they look stunning. I have used a striping tape to help me get straight lines and Seche Vite topcoat to seal the design. The shades used are: Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Bohemian Rhapsody and Killer Queen.

Ron Burgundy

Dior Minuit 2

Dior Minuit is a dark burgundy with a strong fleck like golden shimmer. This polish was like ridiculously expensive, $26!! Normally I don’t buy Dior, it’s way out of my price rage…however I splurged and picked this up during the Sephora VIB sale. I just couldn’t say no anymore, the color is so pretty for the holidays and the bottle is gorgeous. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to work with, even with the hard to hold tiny brush these bottles have. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

just Swirly

Ob 7f0f1d swirl nail art over cirque chainmail 3

I’ve done a simple swirl nail art over Cirque Chainmail when I was swatching it and though you might like to see it ;) Chainmail was initially sent to me for a review.

I’ve painted the swirl using white acrylic paint and a small brush from Tmart nailart brush set. At the end I’ve sealed the design with Seche Vite topcoat.
