Grey boardroom

DL 008

I love love love this. Its so mysterious. A dark gray creme with a touch of green. Stormy Weather is my type of polish. I love deep, dark, murky shades, and this is just that! Formula was also fantastic, two coats for full coverage.

Mosaic

Kiss Products Nail It Magazine Mosaic Freehand Tutorial Nail Art014

I used polishes from Kiss Products: Kiss Nail Artist Paint and Stencil Kit, Kiss Nail Artist Paints and Tip Guides. Each set comes with three different shades of stripers that worked perfectly for this design. I was actually impressed with how easy they were to work with and how saturated the colors are. The kits also include stencils and tape that I haven’t used yet. This design is all freehanded.

Dragon1

Today is A England Dragon. A gorgeous green with a scattered holo effect. Applies beautifully, and is really opaque in one coat but I used two just to play it safe!

Boldly go

Trout pout 009

This is an indigo-royal blue with silver micro glitter. REALLY pretty! I love that the shimmer doesn’t hide on the nail. It is just as visible on the nail as it is in the bottle. Formula was great, I barely needed two coats for full coverage.

Pretty And Polished Jawbreaker is perfectly named because it looks just like the candy it shares its name with! This milky white based polish is filled with blue, green, yellow, and purple glitters in all shapes and sizes. I used 2 coats of Essie Marshmallow as my base and then layered 2 coats of Pretty And Polished Jawbreaker over it, perrrrrrfection! Jawbreaker is opaque on its own after 2-3 coats, but since I only have a mini bottle I want to try to use as little of my precioussssssss as possible.

Sloth 5

Sloth is from the 7 Deadly Sins of Summer collection from Nostalgic Nail Lacquer. Sloth has orange, burgundy and copper glitter. This is a pretty awesome glitter. The formula was beautiful – not too thick and not too thin – and I only needed to dabble just a little bit to get glitter placed where I wanted. If I let Sloth thicken a bit I could easily wear it without layering but I like to layer.

Striped Nails

Ombre yellow stripe nails step up nail art 3

Something I’ve been making a conscious effort to improve on with my nail art for 2014 is tri-fold – 1.) using colors I don’t use as frequently (i.e. yellow, like today, and pink, etc.) 2.) using more exciting polish finishes (I’m sort of a die-hard creme + glitter topper thru and thru, most likely because cremes don’t make me cry when I’m trying to clean up ’round the edges) and 3.) keep on keeping on with freehand stuff (i.e. get better) Luckily for me, and maybe for you if you like adorably wonky freehand stripes and yellow nail polish, I’ve actually been remembering these 3 goals this week for MONOCHROME week! Today I present these ‘lovingly freehanded ombre striped nails).

Wellies

Next we have Butter London Wellies, an amazingly bright green. This is described as a ‘green grass creme’ by Butter LONDON but I think it’s probably a bit too yellow to be reminiscent of grass. This was 3 coats, but I was definitely being over-cautious, you could easily get away with 2.

Shocking

 PiCture pOlish ManiMonday Shocked 5

Today I have a blogger collaboration piCture pOlish color to share with you – Shocked, created with Claire of Shatter Me Claire. Shocked is a gorgeous pink jelly polish with holographic shards in it. I have to confess, the little irregularly shaped holo shards is my very favorite PP finish – I am obsessed with it!! I want ALL of them! Take a peek at how beautiful this polish is and the nail art I did inspired by Claire’s blog name below.

Surprise pink

Rbl5

Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon is a gorgeous sage green with lots of shimmer. The application was smooth and easy and fully opaque in two coats. No issues to report. (And this one is still available as I type this…for NOW. But they are Limited Edition so if you want it, hurry!) It was difficult to capture the duochrome qualities of the shimmer but in person it’s not difficult to see at ALL. It shifts from pink to copper!

53rd element

Iodine-ing Out is a different color, I think! I like yellow a lot, so it’s also one of the polishes I like most in this collection. This polish is a shimmer with yellow undertones and like Easy Bro-Mine! has a slightly metallic appearance over black (polish in pictures above is over black). In my chemistry labs, iodine, the 53rd element, that we dealt with was in solution and was yellow, which helped me in naming this polish!
