Sparkling cocoa

IMG 7630

Super dense and good in two coats. You can put your top coat on it. But I like the effect of it without top coat. And it lasts a little longer than the usual dense glitter.

DL 017

For this I used OPI Pirouette My Whistle over yesterday’s manicure of Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather. See how this turned out below!

Rainbow bright

Layla Mercury Twilight 3

Today I have another one of the Layla holos to show you! This one is Mercury Twilight, the silver holo! I have a lot of silver holos but man…this is such a good one! I used Butter London Nail Foundation for my base coat with this, it was no bueno…I don’t recommend it for these Layla holo polishes :( I needed 4 coats to even everything out since it was a patchy nightmare.

Blue dream

Maybe it’s the deep cyan blue of the base colour (which somehow manages to be richer, greener and sparklier than my pictures suggest..we’ve had non-stop rain with more forecast all next week, so I had to make do with flash). Maybe it’s the gold flecks which accessorise with all my jewellery. Maybe it’s the tiny glitter particles, which makes it opaque in two coats and so sparkly in the light that it looks as though there are far more colours than just two.

Blue sky

First up is the creme shade that accompanied the famous Mermaid’s Dream in the Resort 2012 collection, Deborah Lippmann On The Beach.  This is a gorgeous, bright turqouise blue with a slight jelly finish!  On Deborah Lippmann’s website, I believe it is listed as a “creme” but I would definitely call it a jelly.  This is three coats with a top coat of NYC.  Perfection.

So purple

Shazaam is a creamy, smooth, opaque-in-one-coat, violet-based purple with a very tightly scattered holo. The application was a dream. (Think a-England Tristam/Dragon/St. George – formula and holo properties.)

Starry starry night

A couple of days ago I was cleaning out my closet and found a box with old nail polishes. A bunch of sheer pinks and thickened frosts, but also this impressive little glitter polish (Effect Nails #008) from Etos (Dutch drugstore). The sheer blue base is filled with small and medium-sized prismatic hexes. SO pretty. For this mani I layered one coat over two coats of the blue side of Essence’s Colour³ nail polish called It’s Two Bright. I had a hard time capturing the glittery awesomesauce on the nail, but the bottle shot does show how beautiful the glitter looks in real life!

Red hots

This is ulta3 English Rose. ulta3 is a great little Australian drugstore brand of polishes that have (generally) excellent formulas and are incredibly cheap – $2 a polish. It’s a lovely red jelly full of gold microglitter. 3 smooth coats, delicious!

Color Club Sky High 2

Sky High is a bright blue! This is another that I was wowing over in the bottle but ended up not loving on the nail. The formula was a lot like Metamorphosis, I used 3 coats for the photos below. I’m thinking I need to try layering this or something, maybe it’s just not doing anything for me on it’s own but I’ll love it that way.

Iron Man-ia is a red jelly based polish that consists of both fine red and gold glitter and large holographic gold hex glitter. It needs three coats to become opaque, but there’s a decent amount of glitter, so if you were using it as a layering polish, one coat would probably do. Named for iron, the 26th element, and a little bit of comic book nerdiness as well :)

Moss in the sun

Today I’m going to be showing you all a Chanel Peridot dupe by Jessica called Iridescent Eye! Jessica is a brand I hadn’t heard of until recently and I was surprised to find is quite affordable.  You can pick up Iridescent Eye and many other Jessica polishes at Ninja Polish for $5.00 to $6.00!
