Multichrome

My nails are too short to pull this off, but what a fantastic holo gradient!

Ob f4ab51 ilnp birefringence and mutagen gradient 1

I’m still loving multichrome polishes from I Love Nail Polish and I have combined two of them in a gradient. The result is multi-coloured awesomeness :D

I have used I Love Nail Polish Birefringence and Mutagen. The Ultra Chrome polishes can be purchased at I Love Nail Polish website.

KBShimmer Strung Out 2

KBShimmer Strung Out is a black jelly with gold, silver, green, blue and red circle glitter. This is a collaboration with the lovely Jackie of Candy Coated Tips. I adore Jackie and was so excited to see her shade, she’s one of the few bloggers I’ve met in real life! I love the Christmas Lights inspiration behind this shade and all the circle glitter, I love me some circle glitter! The formula was good, this is a bit sheer because of the jelly base but it builds up to full opacity on its own easily. This is great layered over black aswell. I used 3 coats on it’s own + top coat for the photos below.

For the Queen

IMG 7784

It’s a perfect bright yet rich cobalt, leaning slightly violet as cobalt does, without being in any way a blurple. (It has much more of a violet undertone however than, say, Barry M Cobalt.) This was also a dream to apply – two coat creamy application and it spread like butter. I was a little worried that it might be similar to H&M blue my mind, but I compared them earlier, and this is considerably deeper and more obviously blue. It’s really beautiful. If you’re half way thinking about it, buy it.

Lush bubbleyummy

Bubble Yummy is an electric purple jelly base with fine silver glitter and medium blue glitter. I am wearing three coats in this swatch. It applied dreamily and with good glitter distribution. I was initally worried that the bigger pieces of glitter could be difficult to apply, but I was happily proven wrong! Run — don’t walk — to pick this one up!

Planner

Erin Condren Planner Inspired Nail Art 1

To get this look: I decided to stay true to the design of the planner and the colours used. Since the background is not black, but more of a slate grey. I started with a base of one coat of Cult Nails Fetish, and one coat of Essie Cashmere Bathrobe (I don’t own a dark slate grey, otherwise I would have used that).

The next step was to paint where my design would go, and block it out using Cult Nails Tempest (an opaque white). This would allow for the colours to show up more.

I then painted in the design with my colour: Nubar My New Obsession (blue), Sally Hansen Lightening (yellow), Nubar On The Radar (red), Models Own Soda Pop Pink, OPI My Vampire is Buff, Misa Lime Love, and for the brown/nude a mix of Models Own Nude Beige and Essie Cashmere Bathrobe.

Leaping leopards

1 PC063297

I started off with a base of OPI My Vampire Is Buff and did the leopard print in Essie Where’s My Chauffeur? and Wet N Wild Wild Shine Red Red.  I sealed everything in with Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

my Lotus position

Can you tell I love cool shades?

zoya-lotus-nail-polish-swatch-true-spring-2012.jpeg

Zoya Lotus is a smoked-out, deep violet sprinkled with magenta metallic flecks. It’s an edgier twsit on those smokey purples that were so popular a few years back (eg OPI Parlez Vous OPI?).

Amazingly gorgeous

I went with a base of OPI Miss You-Niverse, which is a gorgeous dark eggplant creme that I reviewed here. Then, I took Essie Good As Gold and with just a tiny bit of polish on the brush, swiped it upwards from the tip of my nails. Doing this also left little flecks on the rest of the nail, which are barely visible in the photos but had a nice effect in the light.

Bond. James Bond.

Revlon Elusive 1

Revlon Elusive is a black base with blue glitter. This is another polish I picked up at Target not too long ago, I don’t think I’ve actually seen it anywhere else unless it’s just been sold out or something. I’m not sure if it was meant to be matte but it dried to a satin matte finish and I liked the way it looked so I added a matte top coat on top of it instead of a shiny one. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and the black base didn’t hide the glitter which was nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Dodge & Burn

Dodgeburn21

For this… I pretty much experimented with adding and subtracting nail polish. A good thick layer of black to start and then a few colors from the Color Club Poptastic collection. It started with Chelsea Girl (blue) and Wham! Pow! (orange). Then got a layer of Twiggie (green). Then Chelsea Girl and Wharhol (pink). And then acetone and a paintbrush!
