Surprise pink

Rbl5

Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon is a gorgeous sage green with lots of shimmer. The application was smooth and easy and fully opaque in two coats. No issues to report. (And this one is still available as I type this…for NOW. But they are Limited Edition so if you want it, hurry!) It was difficult to capture the duochrome qualities of the shimmer but in person it’s not difficult to see at ALL. It shifts from pink to copper!

Contrary Polish Tiger s Eye 2

Contrary Polish Tiger’s Eye is a golden brown base with a strong golden shimmer. This is my favorite of the collection, it’s such a gorgeous brown and I don’t feel like I really have anything quite like it. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Cocoa

Pixi Nail Colour Classy Cocoa Swatch 2

I’ve seen good reviews of Pixi Nail Colour on the PolishAholic and Vampy Varnish, so I was eager to try it. But the price tag was a bit of a deterrent. At $8 for 7ml, it’s pricier than what I would expect to pay for a polish at Target. So I decided to splurge for one shade and picked out this gorgeous brown called Classy Cocoa.

Pixi Classy Cocoa is one of those shades that is classic, but also complex. It’s a rich cocoa brown with a warm shimmer and cool-toned/taupe undertones. It’s one of those shades that is hard to describe, but hopefully my swatches capture some of the depth of this polish.

Pahlish So Not Married! is a gorgeous blackened duochrome shimmer that shifts from dark pink to gold and is filled with gold flakies. I love the look of this polish! It is so unique and the light really catches it beautifully. Shown above is two coats. It dried to a slightly matte finish, which I really liked.

Love Actually

Smitten polish you saucy minx barry m indigo glossy 002

I personally experienced VNL with both these polishes.  Now this could be because the whites of my nails are quite white, or it could be because the bottle is new, and will thicken up and therefore become more opaque in time …. Anyway – that’s why for the first polish, you’ve got it with and without top coat and with and without undies.  Ready?

For the Emperor

 Imperial1wm

piCture polish Imperial is a vibrant neon people base packed with heavy blue shimmery flakes and small coppery gold hexagonal glitters. Pictures can’t do this one justice because it’s even more vibrant and beautiful in person. Definitely a must-own in my opinion.

The formula was pretty great; it was nice and creamy and two coats provided perfect coverage. It does dry down semi-matte due to the neon pigment, so be sure to add top coat if you want a shiny finish.

For a glitter gradient, you want to use a glitter polish with a clear base that has a reasonable glitter load. Glitter polishes that are opaque on their own or that have crelly-base could work, but if you’re starting out, I would suggest a glitter topper in a clear base.  Glitter gradients can be very versatile.  They can be super subtle – soft pink polish with a gradient in a shimmering silver – or very bold – like the manicure I’m showing you today!

My base color is Milani High Speed Fast Dry Quick Teal.  I chose Jordana Glitters Copper Blaze for my glitter polish, which I forgot has a tinted base.  It gives this manicure even more of a cool gradient look and actually worked out quite well for the tutorial portion of this post because you can see exactly where I put the polish! =)  I finished the manicure off with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

Sweet Color W015 is a tinted grey clear coat loaded with shifting flakes.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply, but you will need to apply a base color for an opaque finish. Shown is one coat of W015 over China Glaze Queen B.

Overall, I really liked these.  I love the idea of a collection where each polish has a different finish AND they all complement each other.  Application was easy, regardless of how the teal photographed, and I would definitely want more Liquidus in my life.

Cygnus Loop is a purple base changing into dark purple, blue, burnt orange and underwater there are additionally gold and green gold shades. It is well pigmented so two coats will be enough for full coverage. in this case I have applied one coat over black. The polish is slightly streaky but it’s not that visible unless in the direct sunlight.

Warm brown flakie

Barielle Elle s Spell 2

This beauty is Barielle Elle’s Spell. A red flakie that shifts to gold and then blue/green. The flakies are suspended in a burgundy jelly base. Since the base is sheer, I decided to layer the polish over black. It is kind of a prerequisite for me to test a flakie over black since in my opinion that is when it shines.
