Santa belt

Today’s nail art was inspired by Santa’s belt. I started with a base of two coats of China Glaze With Love. I carefully painted a horizontal stripe of black across each nail and then used Milani Signature Gold to paint the buckle.

Reinvented Gradient

20140126 lacquer legion reinvention opi gradient 11This is actually a reinvention of last year’s Valentine’s mani that I produced for the 2013 Zoya Valentine’s Day promotion. If you can’t tell, I love striped manis. I also love pink and red together. I was toying around with the idea of layering a gradient going in two directions. For the base, I used the sponge technique to apply OPI Red and OPI If You Moust You Moust, placing the red at the cuticle. I gotta tell you, the hardest part about this mani was the clean-up. I had lobster fingers and cuticles that no amount of acetone would remedy. I ended up using topcoat, then waiting until this step was completely dry so I could give my hands a good scrub.

So cute

I started with a base of OPI I Saw… You Saw… We Saw… Warsaw! (I still hate how long that name is, but I am in love with this creamy navy blue.) Then, with a dotting tool, I made flowers using China Glaze Tart-y for the Party and OPI Alpine Snow. This is such a simple look, but I love the pairing of dark blue and lavender – I will have to use that combination more often.

Purple Pond

Floral purple pond manicure deborah lippmann call me irresponsible 2

A pond manicure is basically a jelly sandwich, but with nail art between the layers instead of a glitter polish. For mine I used Deborah Lippmann’s Call Me Irresponsible, a purple jelly polish, and I did little white flowers with a needle-point dotting tool. It was a little tricky for me to find jelly polishes in my stash that were sort of clear jellies; I feel like a lot of mine are sheer but sort of creamy/cloudy (not like in a gross way, in an intentional way). Of course once I was all done with this I remembered that ALL of the Milani Neon polishes are super clear jelly polishes! Derp!

Lights

I used a base of MASH – White, then I used the Barry M – Black Nail Art Pen for the wire, then I used Barry M – Bright Red, OPI – The It Colour, and OPI – Green-wich Village for the lights, and white acrylic paint for the reflections. All topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.
