Poisonous Dots Nail Art

Poisonous Dots 3

I dotted on various size dots in Barry M Acid Yellow and China Glaze Pink Voltage, but didn’t seal with a top coat, so the dotty texture would remain. I love it! Most fun nails I’ve worn in ages!

Supernatural

20140209 glam polish divinity

I have an awesome preview to show you today. I got these polishes in late January and have had to wait patiently to post. It’s been difficult. The GLAM Polish Supernatural Collection includes five gorgeous jewel-toned, jelly-based polishes, each with a mix of flakies, shimmer and holographic glitter. Every single one of these is seriously stunning and they’re available for pre-order TODAY (20 Feb)! See details at the end of the post. Let’s get to the swatches. GLAM Polish Divinity is a dark eggplant purple. I love the deep base with the embedded sparkle.

The season

20141026 lacquer legion halloween 33

My base polishes are the two shades in the Morgan Taylor Halloween Collection. The set includes Little Black Dress (a great black!) and a crazy bright orange called Orange Crush. I used a fine art brush to create the jack-o-lanterns, skulls, spiders and bats and teeny dotting tools to make the dots.

I also introduced a new light source and used a different lens for these pics. Why? Because I’m never satisfied and always tinkering with my setup. I’m not sure if I like it. We’ll see!

Anyway, the polishes I used in this look are:

Yin-Yang

Pastel yin yang nail art

Now onto today’s post… I finally filmed a nail art tutorial!! O: I know, it’s been way too long! I’ve really been into yin-yang nail art lately and it’s such an easy design I figured I’d put my little twist on it and share with you all how I did it, I hope you like it!

So cute

I started with a base of OPI I Saw… You Saw… We Saw… Warsaw! (I still hate how long that name is, but I am in love with this creamy navy blue.) Then, with a dotting tool, I made flowers using China Glaze Tart-y for the Party and OPI Alpine Snow. This is such a simple look, but I love the pairing of dark blue and lavender – I will have to use that combination more often.

Purple Pond

Floral purple pond manicure deborah lippmann call me irresponsible 2

A pond manicure is basically a jelly sandwich, but with nail art between the layers instead of a glitter polish. For mine I used Deborah Lippmann’s Call Me Irresponsible, a purple jelly polish, and I did little white flowers with a needle-point dotting tool. It was a little tricky for me to find jelly polishes in my stash that were sort of clear jellies; I feel like a lot of mine are sheer but sort of creamy/cloudy (not like in a gross way, in an intentional way). Of course once I was all done with this I remembered that ALL of the Milani Neon polishes are super clear jelly polishes! Derp!

Tentacles

I’ve applied two coats of OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! from the San Francisco collection. Then I’ve used OPI Pussy Galore for the pink dots. It took a while to dry because I couldn’t use topcoat but then the manicure lasted for four days without chipping.

Scales

CrowsToes Dragon In Drag 3

CrowsToes Dragon in Drag is a glitter topper full of various sizes and shapes of blue, green and gold glitter. This is my favorite of the collection, it looks all under the sea over blue! The formula was a little thick but very glitter dense and easy to apply. I used 1 coat over Misa Winter Bluesy Blues for the photos below.

Ice pack

Snowflakingway1wm

The KBShimmer Winter 2013 Collection includes some glitters, some multichromes and even some holographic multichromes! There’s something for everyone with this one. KBShimmer Snow Flaking Way! is an indigo jelly base with blue, purple and silver holographic glitters in various shapes and sizes, including snowflakes! We first saw snowflake glitters in Snow Much Fun from the KBShimmer Blogger Collection and although I’m usually not a fan of hearts and stars and those types of glitters, I actually really like the snowflakes. Though as I said in my review of that collection, the snowflakes do not want to lay flat on the nail. The formula was good, but I did have to fish some of the snowflakes out. My swatch shows three coats.

Answer do

Daisies

For these I started off with a base of MASH – Black, then I used acrylic paint for the white flowers and dots, and then I used Butter LONDON – Jasper for the yellow centres of the flowers, all topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.
