Hot SF winter

OPI Embarca Dare Ya! is a magenta with a hot pink shimmer. Shown above is two coats, and just like the other two, it applied easily and flawlessly. This is a great Autumn pink!

Glam-plated

This polish applied extremely easily, especially for a foil! I used two coats out of habit, not out of necessity, as it’s perfectly opaque and streak-free in one coat. Very smooth formula. I like that it’s not a straight silver metallic foil but has a lavender tint that makes it somewhat unique in a sea of metallics. That’s pretty difficult to do these days.

53rd element

Iodine-ing Out is a different color, I think! I like yellow a lot, so it’s also one of the polishes I like most in this collection. This polish is a shimmer with yellow undertones and like Easy Bro-Mine! has a slightly metallic appearance over black (polish in pictures above is over black). In my chemistry labs, iodine, the 53rd element, that we dealt with was in solution and was yellow, which helped me in naming this polish!

Charla3

This is Zoya Charla, and she is outstanding!  Magical!  This is sort of similar to Color Club Metamorphosis, but they are definitely not dupes of each other.  Charla has large glass flecks and a duochrome in the base that flashes green (not blue/purple like in Metamorphosis).  I love blue and teal polishes, so I am very happy to have both of these beauties! =)

Blurple

 Barry m persian

The formula here is very easy to apply, a little thin as duochromes are. As I did with my original swatches, I’ve applied the colour over a plain black creme base – if you do it that way, you’ll only need one coat of colour, compared to 2 or 3 if you wear it alone. I’ve used 1 thick coat of Persian over Barry M Black, with top coat.

At some angles, the purple takes on a blurple quality

Atlantis is the new glitter topper released alongside Persian. It’s different from the glitters in the original collection – instead of shards, we’ve got hexes, diamonds, irregular shapes (the pink pieces are not something I’ve ever seen in polish before!) and a smattering of tiny hexes. I do love the colour combination of pink, purple, blue and silver, but it seems a lot more sparse than the originals. I’ve used 1 coat over Persian (with a bit of dabbing to fill gaps) but as you can see, it really needs some placement! It also needs quite a thick top coat to tame it down.

Mango

20131213 sbl 3rd degree

Super Black Lacquers 3rd Degree is a rich, blood-orange with a golden shimmer and an almost metallic finish. Application was amazing with this polish. Does that ever happen to you? Where you use a polish and you think “Wow. This is dreamy.” LOL. Well that happened with this one.

I used a base color of OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble, which is gorgeous for French manicures. Then, I taped off sections and painted I Love Nail Polish Raspberry Beret, a deep pink linear holographic polish. Once that was dry, I painted on OPI Haven’t the Foggiest – I didn’t use tape for this color, because I was struggling with the lines. That is probably why my lines aren’t even!

Yellow gold

Nostalgia swatch for blog0

I Love Nail Polish Nostalgia, 2 coats  An incredibly unique Ultra Chrome effect that gives this polish a festive green, gold, and red color shift. My swatches really do not do this justice, in fact I’m not extremely excited about these swatches because the polish is really just so much more amazing in person.

Priti NYC String of Hearts 2

Finally, we have Priti NYC String of Hearts, a steel blue to purple duochrome.  This is one of the strongest duochromes on the nail that I have ever worn!  String of Hearts is definitely in the same family as OPI Peace & Love & OPI and Essie For the Twill of It, but when comparing to the OPI, I feel like the Priti NYC polish is a bit less “glowy” with the shimmer and the magic comes from the base of the polish itself.  I prefer the Priti NYC!  I wore this as a full manicure last weekend, and no matter the lighting, the duochrome was visible and beautiful!

In addition to being for a great cause, I think OPI Girls Achieve Grapeness is a gorgeous color! In the bottle, it looks like it gives a duochrome effect, which is very slight on the nail, but the color is packed with multidimensional shimmer.
