The artwork  was done using white acrylic paint, China Glaze Sunshine Pop, Kleancolor Neon Orange, NYX Between Mauve and Purple, Kleancolor Neon Purple, Sinful Colors Innocent, Sinful Colors Why Not, Spoiled Permission to Proceed, and NYC Greenwich Village. The background was a gradient done using Kleancolor Metallic Aqua, Metallic Sapphire, and Metallic Fuchsia.

Adoration

Gradients will always be my first nail art love. One of The Nailasarus‘s beautiful gradient manicures was the first nail art I really fell hard for and felt like I just had to try myself, and from that point on, I was hooked. As I’ve experimented with gradients more during the last year, I’ve found that I especially love them when they’re done with holographic polishes: something about all that sparkle transitioning from one color to the other just really works for me. Add in my favorite colors (purple and black) and my favorite polish brands (piCture pOlish and a england), and you’ve got a gradient I just can’t help but adore!

To get this look, I started with a base of piCture pOlish Hussy and then sponged on a gradient using Hussy and a england Bridal Veil with a makeup wedge. It was actually my husband’s idea to do the gradient vertically and alternate the color order on each nail, and I really love the effect. It’s almost like the gradient runs in both directions at once, which is pretty genius, I think. Thanks, honey!

Thermal

Prettyandpolishedmyfrienddahlia2

Hi everyone!  I have the upcoming Spring FX Collection, as well as a few shades from the A New Equation Collection, from Pretty & Polished! Pretty & Polished My Friend Dahlia, from the Spring FX Collection, is a thermal holographic that is a soft fuchsia when warm and a bright purple when cold.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply.  I really love this one!  It’s such a fun shade to wear! Shown is two coats of My Friend Dahlia.

Reinvented Gradient

20140126 lacquer legion reinvention opi gradient 11This is actually a reinvention of last year’s Valentine’s mani that I produced for the 2013 Zoya Valentine’s Day promotion. If you can’t tell, I love striped manis. I also love pink and red together. I was toying around with the idea of layering a gradient going in two directions. For the base, I used the sponge technique to apply OPI Red and OPI If You Moust You Moust, placing the red at the cuticle. I gotta tell you, the hardest part about this mani was the clean-up. I had lobster fingers and cuticles that no amount of acetone would remedy. I ended up using topcoat, then waiting until this step was completely dry so I could give my hands a good scrub.

Dazzle Holiday

China Glaze Dash of Dazzle Nail Art 2

For a fun, festive look, I decided to do a simple skittlette. I used all three polishes from the China Glaze Dash of Dazzle set, plus OPI My Vampire is Buff, and a plain black polish. I love how easy it was to do, and it’s such a great look for a holiday party!

of good Cheer

The gradient itself was super easy: I just started with a base of a-england Rose Bower and sponged on a-england Bridal Veil (both amazing polishes, by the way) with a makeup wedge. Holographic polishes are a great choice for gradients because they tend to blend well with each other and make for a nice transition between colors without too much fuss.

This design was inspired by Qui Eyelash Nail. I used OPI’s Don’t Burst My Bubble as base and Orly’s Frisky (turq blue) & Essie’s Mesmerized (royal blue) for the gradient. I don’t usually use tape for my manis, but I did this time. I made a short tutorial on how I did this mani, you can check it out on my Instagram here.

Dark edges

SecheCleverAndConfidentGradient003

I started the gradient with 2 coats of Seche Happy, As Is – a vibrant raspberry red creme. I top coated with Seche Vite (of course) and then painted strips of  Wonderfully Witty – a rich navy creme, Clever and Confident – a deep plum creme and Happy, As Is in the middle on a makeup sponge. It took me about 4 times to get the coverage I wanted, and I’m sure the gradient would have popped more if I sponged over white but I wanted to test out the colors without the white base first.

Holographic gradient nail...

After seeing the awesome holographic gradient mani by the-swatchaholic I could not help but jump on the gradated nail bandwagon! Using some polishes from ChG’s OMG collection and HITS Hefesto as a top coat this is what I managed to achieve. For a first attempt I don’t think it looks too shabby do you?

Flash for summer

Purple Pink Gradient 2

The purple I used is Señorita Bonita from China Glaze’s Summer Island Collection (really gorgeous purple with tiny pink flakes), the pink is Forget Now from Sinful Colors. First I wanted to use 108 Degrees, also by China Glaze, but since I spilled out a few ml of this gorgeous polish, I checked my stash and found a dupe, yay! So yes, 108 Degrees and Forget Now are really really close.

Sneeze Breeze Sponged tip...

For this mani, I painted my nails with Deborah Milano 837 which I got in a swap from my lovely friend Maki from Candy Glaze.  I then sponged Sneeze Breeze onto the tips and most of the way down the nails.
