Shades of Phoenix Were All Mad Here IMG 9710

Here’s a polish I knew I had to buy the moment I saw it – Shades of Phoenix’s We’re All Mad Here, inspired by the colours of the Cheshire Cat from the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland.

I’ve always loved Lewis Carroll – Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are such timeless books. I’ve been re-reading them since I was about 7. They never get old.

Renaissance Custom Lacquer Rosie Osie Swatch 5

Renaissance Cosmetics Rosie-Osie is a deep red jelly with intense red shimmer and tiny silver and gold glitter that looks incredible when suspended in the red base. It truly does have that lit-from-within look. Application was really smooth and even, and the consistency is just right – not too thin or thick. This was two coats. I did use a coat of Gelous followed by top coat, to give it more of a glassy look, but this is completely optional.

Wing Dust Waking Dream Swatch 2

Wing Dust Waking Dream is a dark purple jelly with pink, red and silver glitter, including hexes, circles, stars, and tiny hair glitter. It also has a very subtle shimmer, but it’s not very noticeable on the nails. I do love how dark and dreamy this one is – a classic Wing Dust! Application was good, but I recommend two coats of top coat (or Gelous) to smooth out the glitter. This was 3 coats.

L’Hiver

Holiday Decorations Nail Art 3

To get this look: I started with a base of L’Hiver from Renaissance Custom Lacquer, and then painted the black lines with black polish. I filled in the shapes with white polish to provide a good base for the colours I would add on top. The ornaments I filled in with Renaissance Custom Lacquer Mount Pleasant, Spadina, St. Clair and Runnymede. The tiny stars were painted with Essie Good as Gold. I dabbed on a bit of Renaissance Custom Lacquer Evenstar to give it some glitz.

Hey guys! Today I have a some polishes to show you from Wing Dust Collections, a Canadian indie brand with beautiful unique polishes that will make your jaw drop! They are packed with glitter and amazing color combinations, and I love them. These polishes are from the Fall 2013 collection, which will be available on November 18th.

Did I not warn you about how beautiful these polishes are?! Muskoka Sunset is a bright purple crelly filled with bright pink, orange, periwinkle and lavender glitters that suspend perfectly in their base. This polish truly looks like a beautiful sunset, and it is so unique. Shown above is three coats, no fishing or dabbing required.

20111101 femme fatale fatal attraction2

This is two coats of Femme Fatale Fatal Attraction, a dark magenta pink loaded with scattered holo particles. It dries rough and matte, but topcoat (I used two coats) brings out an awesome shine. My indoor photo doesn’t do it justice. This is seriously a breathtaking polish. End of story.

Liquidus Blue Diamond Turquoise is a deep glossy teal.  So beautiful!  As a true jelly polish, you’ll want to apply thin coats and be patient while each coat dries so you can build up to a rich color.  Here, I’ve used three thin coats, but you could do two if you’d like, but you’ll have more visible nail line.  I used Out the Door top coat with this swatch.  In real life, the visible nail line isn’t nearly as noticeable as it is in the photos under the bright lights!

365 Days of Color The Boy Who Lived is a blue and green glitter mix (with holographic flashes) in a slightly black tinted clear base.  This is two coats over The Locket with Out the Door.  This is super flashy and sparkly in real life…beautiful.  You could layer it over anything dark, really!

First up is my favorite from the collection, Beauty Queen. Guys, there is nothing better than a polish done right, and trust me, this polish is done right. It’s a smooth black jelly filled with gold, silver, and pink holographic hex glitters and holographic silver circles. Would you believe this is just one coat over black? Look at how much depth is in this polish! And not only did it require no fishing, but it applied like butter by far the easiest application I’ve dealt with in a long time.

I love indie polish to bi...

Found via eeeek nail polish, the indie shop The Polish Alcoholic is full of the unusual. Thank goodness, because when your nails are boring, how in the world are you supposed to focus???

Newgrass2

New Grass is a pretty spring green with an appropriate name :)  It’s a thinner formula, but not runny–very good, actually!  This one applied relatively easily!  This shows three coats, but two would’ve been okay if you let it dry it between coats.  I’m super impatient and tried to get each coat on one after the other and then….I dragged my hair through it, hah!  I liked this color a lot more than I thought I would.
