Smitten polish look to the western sky 0044444444444

Today we have the first Smitten Polishes to hit the blog.  This is a brand I’ve had my eye on for some time.  I’ve bought a couple, but only a couple, as every time I look, most of the polishes seem to be those milky white glitters that I just cannot get away with wearing.

Luckily however, Noelie’s new collection is bursting with colour, and I was super excited when she offered to send me 3 for review.  Now, it probably won’t surprise you that I asked for a purple, but WAIT, STOP THE CLOCKS, I also asked for 2 greens.  Uh huh.   But obviously I’m going to start with the purple …  :)

Smitten Polish Look To The Western Sky is gobsmackingly sensational.  As a purple lover, it takes something quite exceptional to knock my socks off these days.  Well, this is it!

This is an intense purple vinyl polish which is obscenely bright (I’m amazed the photos are as accurate as they are). By vinyl, I mean this dries to a matte, rubbery finish.  I know a lot of you are going to love that.  I liked it, but was in a hurry, so just went straight to glossy with a lick of Poshe.

Royal Jelly

FBJ is a bright royal blue jelly base with large and medium white hex glitter, as well as what I think is white matte microglitter. I used two coats for my swatches. There was a LOT of the large hex glitter in this polish, so I didn’t have to do any fishing for the pieces. It applied nicely, and only required a little bit of fussing with the large glitter placement to be perfect.

Quench is a medium blue-based red crelly (crème/jelly hybrid) with a smooth formula and easy application – no issues to report. Opaque in three coats, but if your nails are shorter or you don’t mind visible nail line, 2 would be plenty.  I can see why she named it Quench – it’s positively JUICY! Dries quickly to a super shiny finish even without top coat.

 Glam polish divinity

I was up north for New York Fashion Week (for those of you that don’t know)! But this review of the new Supernatural Collection from Glam Polish should’ve been posted this morning so enough talking let’s get to the gorgeous polishes!

Glam Polish Divinity, 2 coats & Top Coat A rich dark purple jelly with a mix of flakies and holographic glitter in various sizes

Caviar Collection

Dance Legend Zebrasoma is a cool blue jelly loaded with micro hexes and squares in black and white.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply.  I absolutely adore this one! Shown is two coats of Zebrasoma.

I hate your

LAQA Co Greedy Guts Color of the Month Club006

LAQA & Co. Greedy Guts. Now let’s talk about the polish. A gorgeous candy apple red crelly that had hints of magenta as well. Absolutely perfect formula. Opaque in 2 coats, self leveling, super shine, goes exactly where you want it to. No top coat here.

The brush handle on these is on the long side, and took some getting used to, but the formula more than made up for that. In fact, I needed almost zero cleanup because the polish was so easy to work with. I can’t vouch for any of the other shades but if they are at all like this one, this monthly box would be an awesome arrival each month.

Wing Dust Waking Dream Swatch 2

Wing Dust Waking Dream is a dark purple jelly with pink, red and silver glitter, including hexes, circles, stars, and tiny hair glitter. It also has a very subtle shimmer, but it’s not very noticeable on the nails. I do love how dark and dreamy this one is – a classic Wing Dust! Application was good, but I recommend two coats of top coat (or Gelous) to smooth out the glitter. This was 3 coats.

Ice pack

The KBShimmer Winter 2013 Collection includes some glitters, some multichromes and even some holographic multichromes! There’s something for everyone with this one. KBShimmer Snow Flaking Way! is an indigo jelly base with blue, purple and silver holographic glitters in various shapes and sizes, including snowflakes! We first saw snowflake glitters in Snow Much Fun from the KBShimmer Blogger Collection and although I’m usually not a fan of hearts and stars and those types of glitters, I actually really like the snowflakes. Though as I said in my review of that collection, the snowflakes do not want to lay flat on the nail. The formula was good, but I did have to fish some of the snowflakes out. My swatch shows three coats.

Get jolly

Different Dimension This Is Not Fir 2

Different Dimension This Is Not Fir is a green jelly with silver and green circle, square and hex glitter throughout. This is nice layered or on it’s own. I used it on its own for my swatch but I think next time I’ll layer it, I think it would probably look great over China Glaze Holly Day! The formula was good, it is a little sheer on it’s own but builds to be opaque in 3 coats.

Girlybitsgravedigger2 copy

Girly Bits Gravedigger is a black jelly loaded with multi-sized hexes, dots, and squares in orange, fuchsia, purple, and green.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply.  I love how nicely the glitters sparkle through the jelly!! Shown is three coats of Gravedigger.

Super springy

Femme Fatale Keeper of the Grove 3

Femme Fatale Keeper Of The Grove is a glitter bomb with green, red, gold and blue glitter in various sizes and shapes in a lime green jelly base. This is all kinds of crazy, and I love it haha! The formula on mine was a bit on the thick side but I had no application issues and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
