Ombre Gradient Nails

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes in Sun Kissed and Green With Envy. I applied them following this tutorial. I sponged the colours on twice today which has given better results than last time – I think the graduation is more subtle and there’s less evidence that I even used a sponge because you can’t see so many sponge marks like last time!

I started with two coats of Essence Twins Romeo. I did a diagonal tip with China Glaze Liquid Leather using clear scotch tape. Using my dotting tool, I placed three dots of Essence Twin Romeo, making sure the grey dots fell on the edge of the black diagonal tip. Once that dried, I added three dots with China Glaze Liquid Leather. I finished with one coat of top coat!

20131116 pure ice glitz 3241

Today I have a few snazzy looks from Pure Ice’s new Puttin’ on the Glitz Holiday Collection. I was excited to hear that Pure Ice is adding some nail art sparklies to the line to spice up our manis. The next look is Pure Ice Internationally Known, a deep creamy teal, with gold french tips. I started with two coats of polish and topcoat and waited until it was absolutely dry. I taped off my tips (to keep glitter off the nail bed) and one-at-a-time polished each tip with additional topcoat, dipped it in the glitter, blew off the excess, and removed the tape. I love how this turned out!

I have used China Glaze Be Merry, Be Bright (from the new Happy HoliGlaze Collection for Holiday 2013), A England Camelot, white nail art pen from Nails Supreme and Seche Vite topcoat.

Fresh spring

I don’t think I could pull off this look, but it is so sweet I couldn’t resist.

This style of nail art is called a “pond manicure!” It doesn’t so much reference an actual pond so much as it references the depth and the layers of the design. I followed a tutorial from Jacki at Adventures In Acetone, and she credits Olive View Fashion as the originator of this technique. It’s genius and gorgeous and best of all, EASY!

My nails are too short to pull this off, but what a fantastic holo gradient!

I’m still loving multichrome polishes from I Love Nail Polish and I have combined two of them in a gradient. The result is multi-coloured awesomeness :D

I have used I Love Nail Polish Birefringence and Mutagen. The Ultra Chrome polishes can be purchased at I Love Nail Polish website.

I started with a base of Two effortless coats of Sation’s Bump in Beige, which is my perfect mannequin hands “crelly”(jelly-creme). Then I applied Two easy coats of One and only Orange by Sation. This is a NEON Tangerine Orange. I’ve been craving neons lately so this color could not have come in at a better time. My camera was all “DO NOT WANT!” lool I’m sure you guys get the picture. This is BRIGHT! On my ring finger nail I did a gradient using Sammy’s tutorial using OAOO and Sation’s Fan the Flames Fuchsia. Don’t worry, I will have swatches of all these Sation colors soon. I topped my ring fingers off with a coat of INM Northern Lights. On the rest of my nails I did a topper of Windestine’s Asbestos which is a White micro glitter in a clear base.

Strippy McStrip Stripe Na...

This is my first time trying striping tape! I decided to get one from Born Pretty Store to see if we would get along and I’m pleased to report we’ve become good friends. I’ve purchased a set of ten rolls from eBay here for an absolute bargain of 99p so prepare for more stripy nails in the future.

I used China Glaze’s Liquid Leather and White on White for the base and flowers. I did use black acrylic paint for this because I didn’t want to smear the petals with my top coat. The acrylic also gives me more control of my brush strokes.

To create this look, I started with the base black polish then used the white to create random semi floral shaped blobs on my nails. Since I was going to be defining each petal with the black, I wasn’t too worried about how the white looked at this step. Then, using my La Cornielle 18/0 liner brush, I used the black acrylic paint to make a TON of almond shapes over the white.

Stamp it

Day03 01

I love the way this Holographic polish, A-England’s Dragon, has stamped on top of the red black base. It’s not completely opaque so where you can see the base colour through, it flashes bronze. I think my nails actually do look a bit like Dragon skin!
