Floral Glitter

Glitterfloral edited 1

Hey everyone! It’s been a couple of weeks since the last tutorial tuesday, and you’ve been missing it a tonne, I’m sure. This week’s tutorial is another one where you’ll have to head over to Divine Caroline to see the steps for this glitter floral design. If you would prefer to stick to the original colours of the dress in the article then go ahead, you definitely dont have to follow the same colour scheme I did.

Taboo?

Boots no7 galaxy 1

I heard this polish is a dupe of Chanel Taboo, so naturally that made me go out and buy it! Unfortunately I don’t have Taboo to show you a comparison, but it really is very similar!

Boots No 7 Galaxy is a deep black-purple base (looks more maroon coloured in the bottle) full of red, copper and purple shimmer. I don’t know whether I’d call it an out and out dupe, it seems to be SLIGHTLY more red toned in the bottle, but on the nail I can’t really see any difference.

This is I Love Nail Polish Sirène. This teal-y chrome shifts to blue, violet and red. It’s even more amazing in person! My swatch is three coats.

Supernatural

Instead of going with a classic “fang” style manicure, I decided to let my imagination wander – I asked myself, what kind of nails would I love if I was a vampire? So, I came up with this bloody french manicure using the same technique from my New Year’s nail art! I used (the appropriately named) OPI My Vampire is Buff as a base, and OPI All I Want For Christmas Is OPI for the bloody tips.

More

Blood red

A dead on dupe of Deborah Lippmann’s Ruby Red Slippers (Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors is also a dupe). I don’t normally go for such dark polishes, so I definitely wouldn’t spend $18 on it, but for $2.99 I’m in. :)

Halloween Ghosts & G...

Halloween nail art

I have used China Glaze Be Merry, Be Bright (from the new Happy HoliGlaze Collection for Holiday 2013), A England Camelot, white nail art pen from Nails Supreme and Seche Vite topcoat.

Le Cirque

Cirque Vianney Coronation006

I was thrilled when I was asked to review this set. The polish is created by Cirque which I’ve had on my radar to try for quite a while and the ring is by designer Jeannie Vianney. I have 3 coats of Cirque Nail Polish Coronation plus top coat here. I could have gotten away with 2 coats but I wanted to be sure, macro photos are not forgiving. As far as application and formula, I had no issues at all. This shade is stunning! I couldn’t stop staring at my nails and didn’t want to take it off!

KBShimmer Strung Out 2

KBShimmer Strung Out is a black jelly with gold, silver, green, blue and red circle glitter. This is a collaboration with the lovely Jackie of Candy Coated Tips. I adore Jackie and was so excited to see her shade, she’s one of the few bloggers I’ve met in real life! I love the Christmas Lights inspiration behind this shade and all the circle glitter, I love me some circle glitter! The formula was good, this is a bit sheer because of the jelly base but it builds up to full opacity on its own easily. This is great layered over black aswell. I used 3 coats on it’s own + top coat for the photos below.

Happy Birthday

Kissy3

Zoya Kissy has a reddish-pink tinted base with lots of bright pink/red shimmer and pink and holo tinsel/bar glitter pieces. It went on well and I didn’t have to pick at the bar glitters TOO much afterwards. It is pretty top coat hungry so I ended up using one coat of Gelous and two coats of Poshe.

Planner

Erin Condren Planner Inspired Nail Art 1

To get this look: I decided to stay true to the design of the planner and the colours used. Since the background is not black, but more of a slate grey. I started with a base of one coat of Cult Nails Fetish, and one coat of Essie Cashmere Bathrobe (I don’t own a dark slate grey, otherwise I would have used that).

The next step was to paint where my design would go, and block it out using Cult Nails Tempest (an opaque white). This would allow for the colours to show up more.

I then painted in the design with my colour: Nubar My New Obsession (blue), Sally Hansen Lightening (yellow), Nubar On The Radar (red), Models Own Soda Pop Pink, OPI My Vampire is Buff, Misa Lime Love, and for the brown/nude a mix of Models Own Nude Beige and Essie Cashmere Bathrobe.

Leaping leopards

I started off with a base of OPI My Vampire Is Buff and did the leopard print in Essie Where’s My Chauffeur? and Wet N Wild Wild Shine Red Red.  I sealed everything in with Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.
