Stripey

On my middle and ring nails, I started with a base of OPI This Gown Needs A Crown, and on my outer nails I used the textured OPI It’s Frosty Outside. Then, I taped off my nails and painted with Essie Licorice.

Gumdrops

Opi gumdrops candy is dandy 2

This is one of the nicest textured collections I’ve seen, there’s a good mix of colours and they’re quite sparkly in real life, more so than on camera! I always find textured polishes so easy to apply too and these are no different. They dry down to a matte finish, but you can add a thick top coat to make them shine if you prefer.

Nicole by OPI Candy Is Dandy is another favourite, a sweet pink shade with silver glitter and larger iridescent hex glitters. 2 coats.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have seen the EPIC nail mail I received from Barbra at ILNP awhile back. It’s no secret that I literally squeal over her polishes. Every creation is more fabulous than the last. I’ve been soooo backed up with swatch commitments and I knew the holidays would slow me down…so Barbra knew it may be some time before they made their appearance on WPP. But it’s been KILLING me to see all of these ILNP pretties just sitting there…waiting to be tried. I was looking at all the bottles lined up in a row and loved how four shades looked together. I took a cue from the Manicurator (who has done swatch posts with one matching accent nail) and put everything together in today’s post. All of these shades are STILL available in the ILNP store.  :)

I Love Nail Polish Molly…wow. You’re probably tired of hearing me say how much I like berry shades of polish. Add some ultra-sparkly holo and I’m sold. The finish is absolutely gorgeous! This one makes my heart melt. LOL.

I used a base color of OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble, which is gorgeous for French manicures. Then, I taped off sections and painted I Love Nail Polish Raspberry Beret, a deep pink linear holographic polish. Once that was dry, I painted on OPI Haven’t the Foggiest – I didn’t use tape for this color, because I was struggling with the lines. That is probably why my lines aren’t even!

Ob 7f0f1d swirl nail art over cirque chainmail 3

I’ve done a simple swirl nail art over Cirque Chainmail when I was swatching it and though you might like to see it ;) Chainmail was initially sent to me for a review.

I’ve painted the swirl using white acrylic paint and a small brush from Tmart nailart brush set. At the end I’ve sealed the design with Seche Vite topcoat.

Summer by the pool

Today I have more polishes to show you from Wing Dust Collections! I am finding myself falling in love with this brand; the polishes are beyond beautiful and they apply so smoothly. They are unlike any indie polish I know because they don’t require any dabbing or fishing for glitters – you can apply these polishes like a regular polish, and they turn out beautifully. The polishes I am showing you today are from their summer collection, but they are going to be restocked in mid-November, so you’ll have a chance to pick these beauties up.

First up is Pool-side Par-tay, a beautiful blue polish that looks perfect for winter as well.

Let’s take a moment to drool at this beauty! Pool-side Par-tay is a royal blue packed with varying blue, silver, and holographic glitters in different sizes, as well as a copper microshimmer. All of the glitters were suspended perfectly in the base and required no fishing – above is three smooth coats, no dabbing necessary!

20131109 nuber wild west collection 1

I decided to go big or go home, so I combined all eight shades into this mani. I did a similar look here, but used striping tape. This time I got brave and freehanded the stripes with a striping brush. I started with a base of Spirit Walker, a pinkish off-white with a touch of shimmer. Then I randomly added funky stripes to create this Wild West themed mani. The colors in the collection are (L to R in the pic above): Take off the Mask, Hi-Ho Silver, Paint Pony, Spirit Walker, Brothel, Texas Sky, Cactus, and Go Native.  I finished with two coats of Nubar Diamond Seal & Shine topcoat to make it smooth and shiny.

Bang bang

Fireworks nail art 2

I started with a base of w7 Black, which is my favourite black creme, and added a glitter gradient to make it look like fireworks in the night sky. From thumb to pinkie the colours are Sparkler, Catherine Wheel, Rocket, Roman Candle and Banger

I used Essie Boom Boom Room, Essie Bond With Whomever, Essie In The Cab-ana, Zoya Thandie, OPI Suzi & The 7 Seven Duesseldorfs and Serum No 5 A Cup Of Teal.

Acrylic application is actually a lot about the size brush you use. The brush sizes vary, usually in increments of 2. So 2, 4, 6, 8, 24! I’ve never seen a size 24 brush in person, but searching online has revealed that they do exist. Has anyone used that size? I’d love to get some nail tech chatter going about the preferred size, manufacturer, and shape of brush to apply acrylics!

Mastering acrylics hasn’t come to me yet. I imagine it will take lots of practice! I have laid a set on a friend in the salon though, and so far, they’re holding up! It’s been about a week. Here’s what they looked like after application and polishing was complete:

First up is my favorite from the collection, Beauty Queen. Guys, there is nothing better than a polish done right, and trust me, this polish is done right. It’s a smooth black jelly filled with gold, silver, and pink holographic hex glitters and holographic silver circles. Would you believe this is just one coat over black? Look at how much depth is in this polish! And not only did it require no fishing, but it applied like butter by far the easiest application I’ve dealt with in a long time.
